BUCKINGHAM PALACE

London Buckingham PalaceBuckingham Palace has been a famous landmark in London, the capital of England since it was built.  Buckingham Palace is the official residence of The Queen of England, Elizabeth II and is also the monarchies administrative offices as well as those of The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Royal family have held important family occasions and ceremonies here for centuries and the palace has been the venue of important official ceremonies and state visits.

The administration of theses Royal occasions all being organised by the administrative staff working at Buckingham Palace for the Royal family. Investitures, Honours and Knighthoods being performed at the Palace annually and official and state entertaining by members of the Royal family are held on a regular basis. Receptions, banquets, dinners are often taking place along with lunches and teas in the Royal Gardens and sometimes parties hosted by the Queen herself. It is believed that approximately 50,000 guests are invited to the Palace each year.

Centuries of Royals have occupied this residence and brought with them a wealth of fine arts and treasures, inherited or presented as gifts from overseas. Buckingham Palace also has a wealth of treasures bought by the perceptive eye of the Royals themselves with guidance from professional art experts or simply acquired through battles and territorial disputes in past history. Most of the pieces of art and treasure are priceless, even the decoration throughout Buckingham Palace can be found nowhere else in the world.

Armed guards stand outside the Palace guarding firstly the Queen and the Royal Family and her associates and guests staying at the Palace. This armed guard also protect the building itself with its irreplaceable contents. These guards are called the Household Troops and have guarded the palace since 1660. Within these troops are the Foot Guards which are specifically the Queens Guard and in their uniforms of red with distinct bearskin hats, they are recognisable the world over and forever associated with Buckingham Palace. The Guards are relieved of duty and replaced with fresh Guards on a regular basis to avoid fatigue as they are stood for long periods of time. This Changing of the Guard takes place directly in front of Buckingham Palace and happens on a daily basis in summer and less frequently in winter. It has become a tourist attraction in its own right as the Monarchy and anything associated with it attracts huge interest from visitors to London from Britain and around the World.

Buckingham Palace also has an immense amount of tourists who flock to see this historical building and in recent years part of the Palace has been opened for tours around just some of the stately rooms.
